Care-First education

Care-First mandatory education is designed to provide brokers, agents, and independent adjusters with the foundational knowledge needed to operate within Care-First.

The AIC is accepting applications from course providers seeking accreditation to offer the following mandatory Care-First Continuing Education courses:

Care-First for Brokers and Agents
Care-First Case Manager Education for Independent Adjusters

Course providers must complete the applicable course accreditation application form and submit to carefirst@abcouncil.ab.ca.

Once approved by the AIC, course providers will receive access to the official course materials. Course providers may begin offering the Care-First education immediately upon receiving accreditation approval.

Providers who wish to be listed on the AIC website as a Care-First course provider should email carefirst@abcouncil.ab.ca.

For insurers licensed through the Superintendent of Insurance, the mandatory education course: Care-First Case Manager Education for Insurers is available through the Government of Alberta. Please email care-first@gov.ab.ca for access to this education.

Who needs to complete the education?

Care-First Education for Brokers and Agents required for those holding the following AIC licenses:

General – Level 1
General – Level 2
General – Level 3

Care-First Case Manager Education for Independent Adjusters required for those holding the following AIC licenses:

Adjuster – Level 1
Adjuster – Level 2
Adjuster – Level 3
Adjuster – Level 3 Designated Representative

Care-First education will satisfy the annual Continuing Education requirement and will be reported through the AIC portal.

Non-Alberta resident agents and adjusters

Care-First education is delegated as mandatory education and will be required to renew your license with the AIC.
