Guideline for appealing an Industry Council Decision

Individuals who receive a decision from one of the Industry Councils have the right to appeal the decision to the Insurance Councils Appeal Board of Alberta.

To support a better understanding of the appeals process, the Alberta Insurance Council (AIC) has published a revised guideline for appealing an Industry Council Decision.

The guideline provides an overview of the appeal process, including how to submit a Notice of Appeal, key deadlines, hearing procedures, and the roles of parties involved in the appeal process. It also outlines what appellants can expect throughout the process and highlights important information to consider before filing an appeal.

The appeal process is governed by the Insurance Act and its Regulations. Individuals considering an appeal are encouraged to review the guideline to better understand the process and requirements.
