AIC’s Top 5 articles in 2025
2025 was a year of progress, innovation, and impact for the Alberta Insurance Council (AIC). From launching new engagement strategies to strengthening consumer protection and sharing our expertise, we’ve made strides in how we support license holders and protect Albertans. As we wrap up this year, here are five standout moments from 2025:

1. Launch of AIC Navigator
This year, we introduced AIC Navigator, an email newsletter for license holders and industry partners. Packed with timely and relevant updates, industry news, and essential resources, AIC Navigator ensures insurance professionals have the information they need to stay informed and confident while providing services to Albertans. More than a newsletter, it’s a new way to connect with our community. If you are not a license holder with the AIC but would like to receive AIC Navigator, we invite you to subscribe and stay connected.
2. Consumer awareness campaign
In the fall, AIC ran a targeted campaign to empower Albertans with tools and resources for making informed insurance decisions. Through LinkedIn ads, we promoted services like the Agent Lookup tool, submitting a complaint, and consumer resources. The campaign reinforced public trust in licensed professionals and highlighted AIC’s role in consumer protection.
3. Ongoing contributions to Alberta Broker magazine
In 2025, AIC shared its expertise with the wider general insurance community by publishing three feature articles in the Insurance Brokers Association of Alberta’s Alberta Broker magazine. These pieces focused on practical and regulatory essentials: licensing exam preparation, licensing renewals, and disciplinary decisions. By addressing these critical areas, AIC helped brokers stay informed, compliant, and prepared for success, reinforcing our commitment to education and transparency across the industry.
4. Council elections and public appointees
Strong governance is the backbone of effective regulation. This year, we welcomed new members to the General Insurance Council and Life Insurance Council, along with new public appointees who bring fresh perspectives. These changes ensure AIC governance continues to represent both consumer interests and industry expertise.
5. Fraud Prevention Month
March was all about fraud awareness. Alongside regulatory partners at the Canadian Insurance Services Regulatory Organizations, AIC joined the national conversation about “ghost brokers” and insurance fraud across the industry by promoting valuable resources and an educational infographic that helped consumers spot and avoid insurance scams. This initiative underscored our dedication to consumer safety and demonstrated how proactive education can make a real difference.
Looking ahead
These highlights reflect our ongoing mission: to protect the Alberta insurance consumer through the professional qualification, licensing, and regulation of insurance agents, brokers, and independent insurance adjusters. Thank you to everyone who contributed to these successes. Here’s to an even stronger 2026!
