Tools for insurance professionals from CISRO’s Consumer Awareness Working Group

National Insurance Awareness Day (NIAD), observed each year on June 28, is an annual reminder for Canadians to review their insurance needs and have meaningful conversations with their agent or broker about coverage. Check out resources to support these conversations.

The Consumer Awareness Working Group, part of the Canadian Insurance Services Regulatory Organizations (CISRO), develops resources that support public understanding of the insurance sector. These resources are not only for consumers, but also for professionals who want to elevate how they communicate coverage, consumer rights, and industry safeguards. For National Insurance Awareness Day (NIAD) on June 28, these efforts include a professional toolkit designed specifically for licensed agents, brokers, and adjusters.

The toolkit offers shareable graphics, messaging templates, and conversation aids that can be incorporated into client interactions or outreach activities. These materials are intended to complement your existing service practices to help consumers navigate topics like coverage considerations with greater confidence.

In addition, CISRO has developed fraud prevention resources to help professionals safeguard both clients and their own processes. These include practical tips for preventing identity theft, documenting policy changes, using secure communication systems, and recognizing warning signs such as suspicious documents or rushed claims requests. By staying informed and vigilant, insurance professionals can better detect evolving threats and reduce the risk of fraud within their day-to-day work.

You are encouraged to use these resources year-round to enhance how you serve Albertans:
