Consumer resources from CISRO’s Consumer Awareness Working Group

The Consumer Awareness Working Group, part of the Canadian Insurance Services Regulatory Organizations (CISRO), develops resources to help Canadians better understand their insurance coverage and make informed choices. Their work is aimed at improving insurance literacy, increasing consumer awareness, and understanding consumer needs.

One of their main initiatives is National Insurance Awareness Day (NIAD), observed each year on June 28. NIAD is an annual reminder for Canadians to review their insurance needs and have meaningful conversations with their agent or broker about coverage.

To support this, the Working Group has created practical tools such as checklists, coverage tips, and conversation starters. These resources help consumers prepare for policy reviews, understand key insurance concepts, and ask the right questions when making decisions.
