Election results for GIC and LIC councils
The Alberta Insurance Council (AIC) is pleased to announce two new appointees to the General Insurance Council (GIC) and one new appointee to the Life Insurance Council (LIC).
Elected by their peers, the new members play a vital role in representing their industry and fellow license holders in insurance regulation and helping protect Alberta consumers.
The election commenced on July 14 and concluded on August 14, 2025.
2025 GIC election: General insurance agent candidates:
Chris Miller (51.83%)
David Maurice (24.5%)
Jason Tuer (23.67%)
Chris Miller and David Maurice are the successful candidates with three-year terms from August 22, 2025 to August 21, 2028.
2025 LIC election: Life insurance agent candidates:
Harvey Agustin (29.09%)
Jason Sopka (43.83%)
Michael (Mike) Bibby (21.45%)
Wendall Kerr (5.63%)
Jason Sopka is the successful candidate with a three-year term from August 22, 2025 to August 21, 2028.
