The Alberta Insurance Council and the industry specific Councils are responsible for the certification of agents, brokers and adjusters in the Province of Alberta. As a component of this process the AIC, through its investigative role, deals with complaints from many sources relating to the individuals and businesses which hold certificates of authority issued by the AIC.
Disciplinary proceedings are advanced when it is determined following an investigation that there is sufficient evidence that a certificate holder has not complied with the requirements of the Act or the Regulations made under the Act.
An overview of these procedures is provided for your information.
