Key changes to Continuing Education course accreditation

Effective January 1, 2026, the Alberta Insurance Council (AIC) is authorized to approve individual Continuing Education (CE) courses and course providers directly. This change supports a streamlined and consistent accreditation process and ensures CE offerings continue to meet regulatory standards for insurance agents, brokers, and independent adjusters in Alberta.

The AIC has assumed responsibility of CE course and provider approval following the dissolution of the Accreditation Committee. Course approvals are now completed internally by the AIC. While the overall submission process remains the same, updated documentation has been published to reflect this governance change.

A new accreditation webpage has launched which includes the revised guidelines. Course providers are encouraged to review these pages carefully to ensure they are submitting applications using the most current requirements.

All CE courses must be accredited by the AIC to be eligible for CE hours. Course providers are strongly encouraged to review all updated information before submitting new applications to ensure compliance.

For course submissions, application requests, or questions about the accreditation process, please contact the AIC.
