New public member appointees to AIC Board and Industry Councils

The Alberta Insurance Council (AIC) is pleased to announce that new public members have been appointed to the AIC Board of Directors, the Insurance Adjusters’ Council, and the General Insurance Council.

Appointed by Order(s) in Council by the Government of Alberta, public members play an integral role in representing the public interest in the regulation of insurance intermediaries and in ensuring effective governance. These new public members bring a wealth of expertise in a broad range of areas including finance, accounting, civil litigation, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, health care, and labour arbitration, and will contribute that expertise and their vital perspectives to helping protect Alberta consumers.

The AIC Board of Directors provides governance and oversight to the Alberta Insurance Council, while the Insurance Adjusters’ Council and the General Insurance Council are the regulatory bodies responsible for the licensing and discipline of independent adjusters and general insurance agents and brokers, respectively, in Alberta.
