Throughout 2007 the Insurance Adjusters' Council ("IAC") has been working to update the entry level examinations for new entrants into the insurance adjusting field.
This project commenced with a review of the current Skills Profile for General insurance which has been accepted by regulators in Canada and resulted in the development of an enhanced Skills Profile and Curriculum Design Document. This Curriculum Design Document has been posted on our website in two parts. Part one contains the entry level standard. The full document contains the Skill Sets for all three levels of certification. The IAC conducts only entry level examinations. Advancement to Levels 2 and 3 are achieved through experience and successful completion of courses identified in regulation which are offered by the Insurance Institute of Canada. The IAC is not proposing a change to this structure.
Council believes the detailed Skills Profile and Curriculum Design will enhance interjurisdictional harmonization and facilitate extra provincial licensing of insurance adjusters.
The Council is requesting that you view the Curriculum Design Document and provide us with your comments no later than June 30, 2008.
The IAC appreciates your assistance in updating and enhancing the educational standard for new entrants into the insurance adjusting industry in Alberta.
